The Certificate of Non-Impediment of Marriage is a document stating that, provided you have told the truth at the time of the application and provided that you are not married to anyone else at the time of the marriage, then there are no laws prohibiting an Australian national marrying in the country where you are marrying. We conduct no verifying checks in relation to issuing the certificate and this is clearly stated on the certificate as well. The certificate does not state whether either applicant is single.
In order to have your signature witnessed you must attend in person and provide suitable photographic identification such as a passport or driver's licence.
It is the responsibility of the client to present the document to be serviced in the correct form, and to provide the correct instructions for witnessing.
